CORE · Agent Layer & AI Economy

Astarter's On-Chain AI Economy Flywheel: how demand, agents, fees, and infrastructure create a self-reinforcing growth loop.

CORE is Astarter's Agent Layer · the autonomous AI execution system that drives the network's activity. CORE is where Astarter's DeFAI primitives — autonomous trading, yield optimization, risk management, intent-based execution, and agent-to-agent payments — actually run. Its economic model is built around a self-reinforcing on-chain flywheel · four interconnected components that compound demand for compute, agents, and the $AST token. As each component grows, it amplifies the others, creating a virtuous cycle.

The Four-Component Flywheel

Component
Role
Detail

Demand: Applications

Task Source

Real demand comes from AI DEX, prediction markets, and data markets · providing tasks and orders for AI agents.

Producers: AI Agents

Execution

AI agents execute tasks such as trading, prediction, and analysis · converting demand into on-chain activity and earned fees.

Infrastructure: ABox Nodes

Compute Layer

ABox nodes provide compute, deployment, and execution environments · supporting more agents and larger-scale demand.

Value: Fees & Incentives

Settlement

Fees are paid for actual work performed — execution, hosting, liquidity, market resolution. Participants are paid for contribution, not for holding.

How the Flywheel Spins

Demand starts at the applications — AI DEX, Prediction, Data Market. That demand becomes tasks for the AI agent layer (trade, predict, analyze). Agents execute on ABox nodes, which provide the compute and execution environment. Fees flow back to nodes, liquidity providers, agent creators, and data sellers in exchange for the work each contributed — attracting more compute capacity.

More compute supports more agents; more agents serve more demand; more demand generates more fees for the participants doing the work. Each rotation increases the capacity of the whole system.

Component Deep-Dives

Demand: Applications

The demand layer is powered by Astarter's four core application products:

  • AI DEX · Continuous demand for trading, arbitrage, and market-making agents

  • Prediction Market · Demand for analysis and prediction agents

  • Data Market · Demand for data generation and processing agents

  • Agent Marketplace · Direct user demand for specialized agent services

As the DeFi and AI markets grow, so does the total addressable demand for agent services on the network.

Producers: AI Agents

AI agents are the economic actors of the Astarter ecosystem. They:

  • Receive tasks from applications (Layer 4)

  • Execute complex on-chain operations via ABox nodes (Layer 2)

  • Convert task demand into measurable on-chain output

  • Earn fees across multiple work streams simultaneously (execution, prediction, market-making, data)

Agents can be:

  • System agents · Built and maintained by the Astarter team

  • Community agents · Developed by third parties and listed on the Agent Marketplace

  • Custom agents · Deployed privately by node operators

Value: Fees & Incentives

Fees flow to participants in exchange for the work each performed. $AST is the unit of settlement; holding $AST does not entitle the holder to a share of fees.

Fee Source
Paid to

Agent execution fees

Node operators (for compute work) · Protocol treasury

AI DEX trading fees

Liquidity providers (for liquidity contributed) · Node operators (for execution)

Marketplace commissions

Agent creators (for agents listed) · Node operators (for hosting)

Prediction Market fees

Winning predictors · Node operators (for execution)

Compute rewards

Node operators (for ABox capacity)

$AST is used for compute fee settlement, governance voting, and protocol service payment.

Infrastructure: ABox Nodes

ABox nodes are the physical compute backbone of the flywheel. Their role:

  • Provide execution environments for AI agents

  • Scale linearly · more nodes = more agent capacity

  • Create a node network effect · network value increases with each new node

  • Earn compute fees from every work stream above, incentivizing continued participation

See ABox Product → for node tiers and pricing.

Why On-Chain?

Operating the flywheel on-chain provides critical advantages:

  • Verifiability · Every agent action, fee, and distribution is recorded and auditable

  • Trustlessness · Smart contracts enforce rules without intermediaries

  • Composability · Agent fee streams can be combined and re-deployed

  • Global access · Anyone with an ABox node can participate, anywhere in the world
